With criminals doing this, y'all need to be careful when using the ATM; Hidden iPod found filming cashpoint users entering their PIN at ATM

A hidden iPod scamming device has been found attached to cash machines as part of a plan to steal bank customer’s card and pin number.
The device was found hidden at an ATM in Heaton Moor in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Wednesday evening.
The owner of the card had been out with friends for a meal and decided to stop at the Co-op on Heaton Moor Road afterwards to withdraw some money.
He told the Manchester Evening News: “I use that machine a lot, it looks a bit shabby, all beaten up and scratched, but I didn’t notice anything wrong with it at first.

“I put my card in, and entered my pin – I always shield it and it’s a good job I did.

“I entered the amount of money I wanted and everything seemed normal until it came to the machine ejecting my card.

“It wouldn’t work but you could hear it trying to push it out.
“A friend who was with us started having a look at the machine and noticed it had been fiddled with.”
At the top of the ATM, just above the pin pad, the friends discovered a strip which had a light glaring out.

They pulled it, and were stunned to find an iPod Nano had been taped there, with the camera facing straight down towards the pin pad.
And they discovered it had been recording the whole time.

The card owner added: “We noticed a car was parked at the end of Lea Road, when we found the scamming device all of a sudden it put its lights on and drove away quickly.
“We were guessing it was the people inside who fitted it and they were watching us.
“What they wanted me to do was to walk away when my card got taken and then they would’ve gone over and retrieved it and the footage of me entering my pin.

“We called police and the bank, and the machine was put out of action. Police got there really quick and ripped the the device from the card reader and got me my card back.
“They then showed us the iPod footage which was 15 minutes long and showed the thieves fitting it to the machine and then me entering my pin. Luckily I was the first person to use it and I’d covered it well enough that you couldn’t see.”
Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
A spokesman said no arrests have yet been made but enquiries are ongoing.
